VPN sharing

Sharing connects anyone to your subscription: family, friends, colleagues. Everything is managed on a dedicated page.

Two ways to connect

By link. For people without an account. Enter a device name, get a link and a QR code, send them however you like. They open the link in the app and the VPN works. No sign-up. The link has to be opened within a day.

By account. For people who already have an OBFSN account. Enter their system ID; they accept the invitation and get three devices and their own cabinet.

Two ways to pay

Every shared device has a "Use one of my own devices" switch.

On: free. The device takes one of the three slots already included in your subscription. If you are not using all three, giving away a spare one costs nothing. Such a device also appears in My devices labelled "VPN sharing".

Off: 100 ₽ a month. Exactly what an extra device costs when you buy one for yourself. The subscription is spent faster.

You can switch at any time, no more than once every five minutes. Free your slot and the device keeps working while spending the subscription. Take it back and it is free again.

The charge runs only while the device is connected

There is nothing to pay upfront. The cost comes out of the time left on your subscription, and only while the device is connected. Remove the device and the charge stops the same minute.

So a device can be added for two days: give a friend a link, remove it a week later, pay for that week.

How long a paid month lasts

Counting from a month bought for 200 ₽. Days are rounded down.

• Mum on your spare slot30 daysFree. You use 2 of your 3 devices, the third slot goes to mum. The subscription is spent as usual, you keep paying 200 ₽ a month.
• Mum and dad on the subscription15 daysTwo devices at 100 ₽. A month bought for 200 ₽ ends after 15 days instead of 30, so it works out at 400 ₽ a month for three people.
• A member by account15 daysThey get three devices and their own cabinet, so they cost 200 ₽ a month, the same as a separate subscription. The month ends after 15 days.

Who pays

The subscription owner pays. While a member has their own paid subscription, that one is spent. Once their days run out, the shared one takes over.

A member can top up the shared subscription from their own account: it is extended for everyone. The money is not refunded, even if they disconnect later.

Sharing only works on a paid subscription.

Devices

• You can share up to 6 devices on top of your own three. A member by account takes three of the six, a link takes one.
• You get as many free devices as you have spare slots: up to three, or more if you bought extra slots.
• A link works on one device. The same person's second phone needs a second link.
• An unanswered invitation and an issued link already hold their place.

How to disconnect

On the sharing page press the × next to the person or device and confirm. Access stops immediately and the paid time starts being spent more slowly again. You can invite them back at any time.

A member can disconnect on their own. Their own subscription, if they have one, keeps working.

About the price

The base subscription is three devices for 200 ₽: a phone, a computer and a tablet. The limit appeared because subscription links were being passed around too widely, which made things worse for everyone.

Sharing costs the same as buying an extra device for yourself. If it were cheaper, sharing devices with yourself would beat buying slots.

The terms will keep changing. For now they are careful: we are watching how sharing is used and looking for more generous ones.

Worth knowing

• Only the subscription owner can share. Someone you share with cannot share further.
• A person can use only one other person's subscription.
• When the paid time runs out, access stops for everyone at once. You can extend it on the payment page; free days come from invited friends and tasks.
