Browser extension

The extension suits you when you only need the VPN in the browser: tab traffic goes through it while the rest of the programs on the computer work directly. It installs into Chrome, and there is no subscription link to paste; you sign in with your account instead.

Installing

  1. Open the setup guides and pick the extension from the list of platforms.
  2. Download the ZIP archive and unpack it into its own folder. Do not delete the folder: the browser works with it continuously.
  3. Open the extensions page at chrome://extensions, turn on developer mode and press "Load unpacked".
  4. Point it at the unpacked folder, then pin the icon to the toolbar so you can switch locations quickly.

Signing in

  1. In the chat with the @obfsnbot bot, send your email as a single line, an ordinary message.
  2. The bot asks whether to link that email to your account. Confirm.
  3. In the extension, press "Sign in" and enter the same email.
  4. The code arrives in the chat with the bot; enter it in the extension. The same message carries a link that signs you in without typing the code.

If the extension ever asks you to sign in again, repeat the same steps.

Picking a location

Once signed in, open the location list and pick a server. Tabs that are already open do not switch by themselves; refresh the page after connecting or changing location.

Worth remembering

  • The extension works while the subscription is active: payment and renewal.
  • It counts as a device and appears in the devices list, where you can unlink it.
  • Only the browser goes through the extension. Games, messengers and system traffic need an ordinary client: installing apps.

If it will not connect

  • No code arrived: check that the email is linked in the bot and that you entered the same one in the extension.
  • Make sure you are signed in and a location is selected in the extension.
  • Refresh the tab after turning it on; a page opened before you connected stays as it was.
  • Turn the extension off and on again on the browser's extensions page.
  • Download a fresh archive from the setup page, unpack it and add it again.
  • Check the server status: the location you picked may be temporarily unavailable.
